Is Content the SEO King?
I am not writing this in color codes and headers etc...
just to get the message across that SEO is about content and not about the frills that a
website is made out to be..!
There is so much ado about content now-a-days, especially text content…
And mind you it is not misplaced..!
Most of us tend to think it is not, but well it seems to be with SEO and keywords and rankings and et al coming into play… Ranking high is a very important aspect of virtual life today is vital to survival..!
Ah..! We need to write is a simple piece of text to put up on the website..!
All of us have learnt English in school and have written letters and essays through our growing years.
Is it such a big deal..? Believe it or not… It is!
My experience on professional copywriting has been an entirely different ball-game.
Let me explain!
As you think, what is needed in not just simple English writing skill..!
Content creation needs a deep insight into the niche market, a good knowledge of the competition as well as a lot of keyword input, not to mention the target audience profile and a measure of their reading skills.. for example, the target audience for high-end LCD TV’s and the target audience that buy stamps online are entirely different and the language should address their unique needs to perfection..!
What is more important here is that it should APPEAL to them..!
Which means that a good professional copywriter should get into the audience’s shoes and take into consideration the following -
# The keywords to be used
# The language that would be understood (Fresch-Kincaid ratings)
# Explaining the niche or the product
# SWOT Analysis to showcase products and services in the right light
AND
# Amazing writing skills to integrate keywords so that they do not stand out like sore thumbs, to place them perfectly, use them at good percentiles and to weave a excellent but subdued sales pitch into the copy..!
How many writers or for that matter professional copywriters can do this?
If webmasters hanker about SEO all the time, the content quality gets #$%@(*, but if you leave it to a professional copywriter, he can do wonders with SEO and traffic…!
Riding the fine balance between good content quality and SEO for driving traffic is something only a good and experienced professional copywriter can achieve..!
There is no denying this..!
Now, a webmaster wants a 1000 articles of 500 words each at $1 each..! Amazing, what some people expect..!
Articles are used for SEO only by some webmasters, but if the articles are not read, will they drive traffic? If they do, what kind of traffic will the website get? And, do you need 1000 articles for SEO.
In a niche like mine (copywriting – competition above 300,000), I can get ranked No. 1 with 1 good articles submitted to 20 best article directories, believe it or not, I have with only 5 articles..!
This is the evidence..! Google Ranking
As a webmaster, what is the quality that he should expect..? For SEO as well as traffic..!
Quality consciousness is highly important in text content creation especially since a website is like a storefront for the global audience..!
Again, this does not mean that content should cost the earth, a fine balance again between costs and quality should be maintained..!
On a traditional storefront, do we keep advertising “20% off” at 50% density? Doesn’t it look a little offensive and one-tracked… what kind of people will it attract… those with no money or money jus to buy something that they need… do you need such customers?
If yes, then how many, and for how long?
Consider longevity here and make sure that a balance between good clientele and run-of-the-mill is maintained.
BTW, a 50% density on the traditional storefront converts to 5% density in web content, as far as the sore-thumb showcasing goes..!
